But on November 26th 2008, Youtube sent a message, 'Rejecting' the 'content' because it was suddenly 'inappropriate'. Youtube, I think we deserve an explanation here.

We just received this email from a concerned Ghost Rider:

Hello, My name is Greg. I Live in Lafayette Louisiana. Me and my friends love to ghost ride. So let me go to the story.

So me and my friends after school went to an old vacant parking lot. there was about 40 people and 30 cars. We got in a couple of cars and started to ghost ride around the parking lot. We were there for about 45 min and before we know it there are TV cameras filming us. So we all scatter laughing our asses off. Its all good fun right? Well the Lafayette Police Dept and our school didnt think so.

COme to find out we are the headline in the news that night and again the next morning. We we get to school the dean of students calls us out of class and has a pokice officer waiting for us. 5 people got reckless operation tickets and numerous other were suspended! this is crazy all we are doin is trying to have a little fun.

The news described "ghost riding" as putting your car on cruse control at 20 or 30 and getting out of your car and dancing on it. This has blown my mind that it turned into such a big ordeal.

This blows our minds too Greg. Hopefully other Ghost Riders will heed your warning.

FOX News has recently labelled "Fence Plowing" as the "new internet trend sweeping Youtube". Apparently a trend only needs 14 videos to be classifed as a Youtube phenomenon. We here at GRTWB believe that there's only enough room on the internet for either Ghost Riding or Fence Plowing. The choice is clear.

Ghost Riding The Whip was created by a guy named Pretty Bo; Fence Plowing was created by a guy named Adam Schleichkorn. Unbelievably enough, Schleichkorn didn't even christen his discovery! He merely came up with idea and got someone else to do it. What kind of creator is that?

Ghost Riding is stupid and dumb; Fence Plowing is painful and dumb. Ghost Riding is beautiful and graceful; Fence Plowing is crude and destructive. So you ran into the fence and knocked it over. Big deal; your average hurricane can do that. Show me a tropical storm that can ghost ride the whip and I'll be impressed.

Less than six weeks into 2007 and it's already looking like a banner year for everyone's favorite internet trend. Over the next few days, we'll be covering what's going on in GRTW.

We have to start with Mistah Fab; quickly becoming a ghost riding god. His video for "Ghost Ride It" is out in two ghost-tastic editions: The MTV Edit and the uncensored Thizz Street Edit.

The uncensored version, one of the hyphiest videos in a minute, features more ghost riding, more hyphy, an orange monkey, and a couple of bottles of thizz pills. Now that your boy is signed to Atlantic Records, look for our new anthem to blow up.

Fab is emerging as the face of ghostin'. He went on Hannity & Colmes, which is as great as it sounds (although no Cam'ron on Bill O'Reilly). Check out this interview with the Yellow Bus Rydah Man as he offers a vision of where ghost riding could go: "We are saying that if it was put inside of an arena, if it was in a controlled environment, it would be very successful and lucrative."

This latest CNN news story breaks the full scale Ghost Riding the Whip related crackdown going on.

“in Stockon they passed an ordinance specifically targeting these kinds of stunts”

The ordinance mentioned, passed on June 26, 2006 targets street racing and sideshows. Ghost Riding the Whip is never mentioned, the act of getting out of your car and ghostin’ isn’t even described.

“they (police) have already impounded some 400 or so vehicles and handed out more than 1500 citations”

I wonder how many of those 400 impounded whips were really ghost ridden.

Interestingly enough CNN points the finger at “the internet” for spreading the ghost riding menace among the impressionable youth. Surely this was an attempt to blacken the reputation of the new media to which it is rapidly losing ground. I'll save my rant about how bad Pimp My Ride is, and how weak the premise of a video game based on the series is. All I care about is the following:

"One of the ways for you to earn the cash to pimp the cars is to Ghost Ride The Whip. In this mini-game, you will be required to execute dance moves along side your ride while it’s moving next to you in drive. You accomplish this with controller-button sequences mixed with timing. The more flawlessly you execute your moves, the more props and cash you receive. Don’t worry, all the in-game dance moves were performed by professional hip-hip dancers with motion capture technology so you’ll look like a pro as long as you game like a pro."

STOCKTON — A young Stockton man died this week during a "hyphy" maneuver by hanging out of a truck going 30 mph to 40 mph and hitting his head on a parked car, police said.

Pickens said that Gulley apparently tried to "ghost-ride the whip," a stunt where someone steps out of a moving vehicle. Gulley opened the front passenger door and may have tried to stand on the outer ledge. Pickens said it was unclear what happened next, but Gulley fell and hit his head on a parked car.

Mr. Porochnavy's life came to an abrupt end recently on a stretch of highway outside Saskatoon. On his way home from a night in the city, Mr. Porochnavy fell backward from a moving vehicle, hit his head on the pavement and died later in hospital.

Saskatchewan RCMP say he is likely the first person in Canada to be killed while ghost riding, a dangerous trend started by rap stars from the San Francisco area that has spread across the continent on Internet sites such as YouTube.

Jenny Penzie, Mr. Porochnavy's mother, is bewildered by the circumstances of her son's death. "It has to do with rap music. That's how [the police] said it to me," she said.

On the night he died, Aug. 18, he had travelled to Saskatoon. Toxicology tests indicate he had been drinking. He was riding in a brand-new Ford truck driven by his friend Gary Pfeifer.

In "The Folly of Youth", Elaine Monaghan of the UK Times Online references a video that isn't ghost riding the whip. And yes, it's the infamous red-neck truck video.

CTV clearly doesn't understand what ghost riding the whip is. In "'Ghost riding' becomes dangerous teen car craze," a CTV News Staffer is quoted:

"One video shows a ghost-rider abandoning his truck as it plows into a utility pole and a fire hydrant, sending the latter flying onto the residential street."

The clip is not ghost riding. CTV once again dropped the ball when it came to checking their facts. The video they reference came out well before the ghost ride the whip movement began, and doesn't even resemble a ghost ride attempt:

It's a monster truck.
No contact with the ground.
He is going like 30 mph.
There is no E-40 playing.

In this reporter's humble opinion, they should have checked the Ten Ghost Commandments...
